I just finished reading the Odd Thomas series. There are eight books in all. I enjoyed every one of them tremendously.
Dean Koontz has a unique writing style. I enjoy his books because he writes in a way that shows, rather than tells the story. His writing is fluid, vivid and fast paced. He doesn't delay over superfluous details but still finds a way to put all the color in the story; the tastes, the smells, the sounds.
The stories are each a chapter in the life of a young man who can see the recently dead and can help them cross over to the other side. He has several intricate and sometimes frustrating psychic abilities that he feels he is called upon to use.
Odd Thomas uses his abilities to track down and thwart evil doers as they attempt mass murder.
